Transcending Thought
The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created—created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination.
Spring Cleaning
It's springtime, here in the southeastern US, the Bradford pears, dogwoods, and azaleas are in bloom or as with the Bradford pear trees have already bloomed. I love the spring and all of it's spectacular colors, it's the first indication that new things are beginning.
It's thought by many that the winter before the spring is dead. The grass, trees, flowers, nature in general, have slowed down or died for the season. Has it, not really it just appears this way. It is really the fall season when this occurs and winter is the process in which natures nourishes what was triggered the prior season. Winter is, in my thought process, the beginning of a new life cycle.
In late fall, as the grass browns, flowers die out, and trees loose their leaves, nature is preparing them for winter. Of course, you already know this, who wouldn't but usually as winter arrives the consideration that it has a purpose disappears or hibernates. Think about it, no one likes winter all that much with it's cold weather and dreary skies, possibly even snow. Children are more inclined to appreciate winter than adults, to them it's just another day to have fun. Adults should carry the same attitude but tend to loose this child-like innocence as they store and recall their prior experiences.
The real purpose of winter is the beginning of a new life cycle, season or year, if you purpose on time lines. It nourishes the seeds of those flowers that dies in the fall, the roots of the grasses and trees to weather the cold of winter, and life continues on at a slower pace. Preparations are underway for a spectacular new season, while different on the outside, life flourishes within.
Then it happens, SPRING!, nature starts to reveal what she's been up to all winter. How glorious her creation is, marveled by her beauty we tend to help nourish her creation. As she warms the earth, we want to be outside more, cherish what she has done, and spruce her up a bit in our neck of the woods. We have that tendency to want to show off what she created. And while we're at it, we consider the spring cleaning of our abode.
Spring cleaning, though thought of as spring begins, hence the name spring cleaning, actually starts in winter as a thought process. Just as nature nourishes, our thoughts become plans that are put into some form of action, sooner or later depending upon the importance we put to it. Needless to say, what is important takes to priority and sometimes things we wish to accomplish sit there and are soon forgotten about, sometimes for years.
I admit, that's happened to me too many times. One of those things, which gets back burnered too often, is going through and cleaning out all the stuff I've collected during the year, especially on my computer. Usually, I find that, at the beginning of every new season, if I've put off the task and forgotten about it, I get reminded I haven't finished what I committed to. It's a subtle reminder, usually a thought, and the process begins anew. Strange how we are reminded of our commitments we make to ourselves.
For 7 years now, I've neglected the house keeping of my archives, I've gone in and looked at them several times, deleted so stuff, but then decided it's not that important, it can wait, then forget all about the task. Hmmm, think I've mentioned this before, now that I think of it several times. So here we go again, this time though seems different, there's a certain passion to accomplish the once dreaded task of getting rid of the stuff I no longer needed, wanted, or even knew I had, and much to my surprise I find treasures.
Wow, more treasures, how could I have forgotten about this? Simple now that I ponder it, there was no real plan of action or I got lazy and forgot, probably the later, just got lazy. Moral of the story, my blunders may be of benefit to someone visiting here. As I go through my archives in the following weeks, I'm cleaning out the trash and in doing so relieving the energy associated with it. Sounds like fun, finding treasures and trashing junk.
The treasures I find I plan to share with you, so as I do my much needed spring cleaning, I'll be posting links, adding ebooks, you name it I'm not sure what I'll find. It's going to be fun, stay tuned and we'll see what I find. Oh, by the way, if you've put off spring cleaning, this year give it a shot, you might just find as I have that somewhere in the clutter are treasures you have forgotten about.
